A huge congratulations to Sagkeeng's Finest, Vincent O'Laney, Dallas Courchene and Brandon Courchene, 
who were named the winners of Canada's Got Talent 
in the Season Finale on Monday evening.  

The young trio from Sagkeeng First Nation in Fort Alexander, Manitoba won the hearts and votes of the nation to take home the $100,000 grand prize, a chance to perform in Las Vegas, a trip to Tobago, a Nissan GT-R and will be returning to Toronto to perform at the Citytv New Year's Eve Bash!

And an extended congratulations to everyone from 
the Sagkeeng First Nation - what a great day for all 
First Nations people in Canada!

Here's to 'the Eddie'!

This morning on Yonge Street, in a ceremony officially launching the Ed Mirvish Theatre, the lights of the newly erected marquee were switched on.  

This historic moment, accentuated by our 225' high white comets, began a new era in Toronto theatre!

George Frideric Handal, (1685 - 1759)

This is a particularly incredible production - the set incorporates an original 450-year-old Ming Dynasty Ancestral Temple, salvaged by Director & Set Designer Zhang Huan.  

The temple, with an "eerie history" that parallels the story of Semele, has been incorporated into Huan's internationally renowned direction and set design.  This treasure of a set piece has been completely reconstructed on stage, acts as the central location for the many stages of Semele's growth and destruction and adds a rich backdrop to this Eastern interpretation of the Western opera.

For year's, AirMagic has helped bring the 'wow' to Easter pageants in Toronto and all across Ontario.  

This Easter weekend, Technician Abby Swain was at Agincourt Pentecostal Church (APC) helping to wow their congregation with pyro and low-lying fog in their stunning production of Thomas:  APC's Easter Musical 2012.

Counting Down to 2012

What an awesome year this has been for all of us at AirMagic! It started at Nathan Phillips Square as we rang in the New Year with CityTV, and it will end in Niagara Falls as we count down to Midnight with Global TV.  This year we made the world's Biggest Burning School House and burned it to the ground in front of an audience of friends and family. We were at BMO Field for the TFC,  at CBC for their 75th anniversary, and at CTV for So You Think You Can Dance. We celebrated Chinese New Year, Pride, Diwali and the Doras. We shot Fireworks from fields, lawns, barges and rooftops. We made a bonfire at a beach party on Richmond St.  Our Fountains danced, we shot Streamers, Confetti, Pyro and Lasers!!!  We had our share of Ooh's and Ahh's in 2011.

Our rental and retail business grew.  We went through more than a ton of Confetti, and another ton of CO. Margaret Smith,  Julie Li and Rob McKee joined us this year. Abby Swain is back with us. All in all we've had great fun.  We're looking forward to an amazing 2012,  and we know that we owe it all to you... our customers, clients, suppliers, friends and family.

So - from Jake, Matt, Margaret, Abby, Rob, Julie and the rest of our AirMagic family...

AirMagic's 2012 Winter Showcase 

It's easy to talk special effects - but seeing is believing!

It has been WAY too long since we have had an open house.  On Wednesday January 18th, 2012, we invite you and your team to join us at the AirMagic Special Effects World Headquarters for our 2012 Winter Showcase. Take this opportunity to see our special effects in action and get a peek into our shop - it's where the magic begins.

Tours will be led by Mark, Margaret and our top-notch staff. We will be featuring some of our coolest effects and new offerings. Here's a great opportunity to ask questions and stockpile ideas.

The Showcase will happen between 2:00pm and 8:00pm.  We are hoping to conduct tours every 20 minutes.

If you've ever shot confetti, you'll understand how perfect the Atrium of the 
CBC building in Toronto is. Up on the seventh floor, twelve cannons 
with their barrels peaking over the railings, it practically shoots itself.

 

 

 

 

Any time you can shoot confetti, or streamers, snow, or bubbles - from a balcony or mezzanine - it's the way to go!

We had a blast shooting Silver, Red, and White Confetti as the CBC staff and guests sang Happy Birthday and raised their glasses for a toast.

The CBC has been a big part of my life - from The Friendly Giant to Peter Gzowski to Matt Galloway in the mornings. We're thrilled that we could play a part in celebrating the birth of this iconic Canadian institution.

On May 5^th, 2011 LG’s Innovator’s Ball happened at the Ontario Science Centre.  

Their theme this year was ‘A Night of Sensory Deception’ and we were so excited to be involved and to show off our new partnership with Canada’s leading laser provider.

It was an incredible night and our five-minute laser show wowed guests as they transitioned from darkness into light.  Check out our two-minute clip below!

Well folks - We did it!! With the help of The Raptor and our awesome community partners, we collected food and raised money for Daily Bread Food Bank, gave away some fabulous prizes, and put a smile on eveybody's face.

Counting down to Zero Hour

Fourteen hours to go! We've been planning this moment since July. At 1 PM, at AirMagic World Headquarters, the Raptor - NBA's #1 Mascot, will light the fuse and start the show.

Come for the Fireworks - stay for the popcorn and balloons - enter our draw and you could walk away with an awesome prize or two.

NBA's #1 Mascot - Lights Our Fire

Does it get any more exciting than this????  Just as our Giant Burning School House arrived from the paint shop (yes - it's awesome!), we got the call that we'd been waiting for.

The one and only Toronto Raptor - the mother of all mascots - confirmed that he will be joining us at AirMagic World Headquarters on Saturday to celebrate with us - to help us collect food for Daily Bread Food Bank -  and to wield the torch that will light the fuse to our big show!!!!!!!!!!
